OWE AKU NEEDS YOUR HELP
UNITE TO FIGHT
The Unite to Fight Training Program of Owe Aku is designed to provide learning experiences for community activists, leaders and grass roots people in order to share the teachings of folks who have done community outreach and social change work for years, some for decades, in both rural and urban settings with people of all walks of life, on a myriad of issues.
We are now a short time away from hosting such a gathering!  Once again, we will pull together volunteer presenters/instructors to lead the training for community folks aged 18 through 45 who will camp together for several days on the beautiful Pine Ridge (SD) Homelands.  Topics for this training camp include media training for the written word, social media, short film, graphics, and banner making for messaging; critical thinking skills, development and practice; consensus/decision making skills; creating your own narrative and community and/or cultural activities to share the narrative; research and design and implementation of community awareness, education, and action campaigns.  Participants will take this training home and not only implement its tenets, but also share it with their communities, neighborhoods, affinity groups, towns, cities and tribes.  ITS REACH IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ESTIMATE.
We are expecting 40 to 50 participants who will work together for several days to develop and hone such skills.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The Lakota Media Project of Owe Aku is hosting a training for actively involved young media makers from across Indian Country, and broader America to gather and learn together and produce some media!  With the popularity of social media among young people, we feel it is important to include such training, print media, radio media, and graphic arts will also be covered in this upcoming training.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!
"The Unite to Fight training is a School of Liberation in that it frees you from and replaces past notions of how Indigenous and other communities of people can create and implement the kind of peaceful and effective social change necessary for their particular and respective communities, within the construct of their ancient and traditional life ways," says Debra White Plume of Owe Aku.
